I’m deep into Stephen Greenblatt’s fantastic new book The Sweve: How The World Became Modern. (Thanks, Dan) The jumpstart to the Renaissance, according to Greenblatt, was the discovery of the last surviving manuscript of On the Nature of the Universe by a book hunter named Poggio Bracciolini. Oxford publishes an edition of the Lucretius book (9780199555147).
